With everyone across the country braced for the inevitable cuts to services that we have been told councils - and the goverment - must make to save money it has come to light that the Scottish Goverment has been squandering money on politically correct nonsense.
They have found it necessary to spend public money on finding out whether Neolithic ruins on Orkney ( c. 3300BC ) descriminate against gays and ethnic minorities. This is just one of a number of Equality Impact Assessments which have been carried out over the last two years, which has cost the taxpayer up to £1million.
Other assessments have included one to see if Scotland's canals are gay friendly.
The result of their investigation into the ruins ( The Ring Of Brodgar ) mentioned above on the effects to the gay community is 'unknown'. But another check is recommended for five years time.
The nonsense of this ( and the waste of public money ) cannot be lost on the gay community. If they were checking hotels, guest houses, clubs, etc. it would make a bit of sense but to have chosen the subjects they have is sheer lunacy, which panders only to the politically correct brigade.
Just think what difference that wasted money could have made had it been used for education or health, for instance, which would have benefited everyone, gays, ethnic minorities and others.
There was other statistics that came out the same day showing that many people want to leave the country, "which has gone to the dogs" . Is it any wonder?
